Two New Art Journal Workshops for October!

Registration is now open for my October Art Journal workshops! I’ll be teaching two workshops in October and there’s an Autumn Special Offer too to help you save a few pennies before the holiday season kicks in.

First off I’ve been asked by the lovely Deb to teach a class on Deb & Co. Over there we’ll be making handbound, coptic stitched books, but a little more easily than all those weird and wonderful instructions you find on the internet! I’ve been making coptic bound books for a few years now and being inherently lazy, if there’s an easy way to do things I’ll find it!

Art Journal Workshop: Cryptic Coptic

Demistifying the sewn journal technique. Using simple and cheap tools we will create a coptic bound journal with an optional covered and decorated spine. Coptic binding is not easy to understand from diagrams, but it’s not actually that difficult to do. It’s just something that’s best demonstrated than read from a diagram!

This course will be a ‘study at your own pace’ course. and I will be on hand to answer any queries or offer assistance.

I’m also teaching another art journaling class over on Willowing and Friends. This one has more of a spiritual/soulbook/keepsake theme and will provide us with a little haven of sanity before the holiday madness begins.

Art Journal Workshop: Eve to Eve

There’s a little magic in all of us and it’s time we let it out! Some of us know instinctively how to tend a plant or a sick child, others can befriend any animal, still others know colour magic and can create a beautiful ensemble whether it’s in the lounge or out of the wardrobe. Maybe you can work magic in the kitchen, always getting the bread to rise just so or you can weave beautiful works from thread, paint or words.

Over 9 weeks we’ll be creating our own little soulbook of inspiration, knowledge and keepsakes and sharing it with other women. The name of the workshop is twofold; we’ll be working from Hallowe’en to New Year’s Eve, but also sharing ideas together as women, ‘from one Eve to another’*. We’ll look at Godesses and Muses, Calligraphy, Astrology, Traditions, Meditation, Celtic Knotwork, Sacred texts** and much, much more (see pdf below for details). It’s all about taking that knowledge you have, those special gifts and turning them into a beautiful keepsake that will be a joy to look through and add to over the years and maybe pass on one day.

*If you’re an Adam rather than an Eve, you are, of course, still welcome. I just couldn’t fit ‘Eve to Eve or Adam to Adam, depending on your gender preference’ onto the banner.
** When studying sacred texts, everyone will be encouraged to look at those pertaining to their own belief systems/book themes. You can use the techniques for any keepsake book – a recipe book, a Bible study book, a Book of Shadows, a book of quotes – to name but a few. I don’t care if your sacred text is the Bible, the I Ching or Mrs Beeton’s Book of Home Cookery!
This is a spiritual course, not a religious one. Choose your own path.

and didn’t I mention a special offer somewhere along the line?!

If you’re going to make a keepsake book, I thought perhaps you’d like to bind it yourself too. So I’m offering a special discount for anyone who buys both courses together. You can even pay in two installments at the end of September and the end of October if you want to -  just email me and I can sort that out for you. (Please do not use the Buy Now buttons if you want to pay in installments. I will send you a payment request instead)
