Blog Update… I Think We’ve Fixed It!

Friday, October 30th, 2009

Thanks to some intrepid exploring by yours truly and repeated posting, refreshing, commenting and skyping from the ever-patient-with-us-geeks Anam (thank you!) I think we’ve fixed commenting.

Info for anyone else struggling with comments on their Wordpress blog:
1. SI Captcha doesn’t work in 2.8.5. You get a repeated cookies error
2. Open ID doesn’t like Typepad anti-spam. I don’t know why, but I can put one of the other on, but not both. This was pre-2.8.5.

I hope that proves useful to someone, somewhere who may be scratching their head and wondering what’s going on.

Anyway, for now, it seems to be fixed. I still have bandwidth issues around 7pm gmt – 9pm gmt, which I think is probably lunchtime in America. But I can’t do anything about that at the moment because a) it’s expensive and b) I have to have been with my current host for x amount of time. Perhaps in the new year I can get it sorted out.

In the meantime, I just need to find out if my Facebook and Twitter auto-feeds for comments sitll work. In theory, if you reply to a ‘New Blog Post’ tweet it should pull your tweet in and a comment. Same on Facebook when the notes feed shows the post. I’ll rope a few people in to test that theory later.

Thanks to those who told me about the issues and have helped me test them, it’s much appreciated. This website is now my livelihood and I can’t afford for people to get fed up with not being able to use it.
