I really wanted to try the Sharpie Ghost technique that Less Herger put on her blog the other day. Partly because it looked like fun and partly because I dislike Sharpies intensely but have a whole pile of them, so I wanted to see if this technique could endear them to me at all. I’ve done a similar technique before with Adirondack inks and white acrylic and loved it.
Can’t say I like sharpies any better after this (especially since they bled through the back of my page – grrr) but it was fun to have a go.
Here’s what the pages look like so far.
In Part 2 I’ll be doing some more collage work and adding more bits of colour, then some journaling.
In the meantime I’m putting the finishing touches to a couple of PDFs and working on my NaNoJouMo pieces. Oh and watching Teesha’s videos of course, just like everyone else. OK, OK, I’m on my 4th go round. But honestly, I love watching other people art journal. If someone set up a TV channel of just videoing people art journaling and painting and drawing and every so often they stopped and told you about the techniques and materials they were using? I’d subscribe. In fact, it would never get switched off.
This from the person who’s last TV watching session was at Easter for the Doctor Who special.

I will definitely enter your name into my giveaway. Thanks for watching my video
I like your new video!
Thanks Lynda
I'd so watch that channel too! we need a reality art show!! love the journal page so far..not a big fan of sharpie's either..
I don't understand why everyone loves the so much. I don't even like the poster paint pens, then leak like crazy. Yet so many people swear by them as the thing to write with.I'll stick with my Signos and Prismacolours I think.
What? You missed the Torchwood mini series? It was pretty good!
Surprising as it may seem, not a big fan of Torchwood. I liked the first series OK enough to start watching the second but I got bored with it after about 3 episodes and I didn’t even bother with the mini series.
Very silly question from a complete novice ~ was the first layer you painted on gesso?
Yes. It’s Sharpies, then gesso. The sharpies bleed through. The technique is shown in full by by less herger here on youtube
Thank you x
