I’m currently hooked on two things: image transfers and pen & wash drawings. Most of my art journal pages the last week feature one or both. I described the way I do image transfers in this post.
This page was inspired by a combination of Alice in Wonderland (was reading about the new Tim Burton film) and listening to Siouxsie & the Banshees’ ‘Helter Skelter’.
Supplies & Techniques
- The girl and spiral were sketched in pencil then inked in with a quill pen and Parker black permanent (but not waterproof) writing  ink, then shaded with water to blend the ink.
- I painted in the spiral in Humbrol fluid acrylic (purple)Â and Anita’s fluid acrylic (black) – we can’t get Golden Fluid Acrylics over here so I make my own fluid acrylic for paintings and use any fluid acrylic I can get for journaling).
- The image transfers were created with Golden soft gel medium, then washed with Cosmic Shimmer paint in ‘Rose Hue’ (similar to Twinkling H2Os).
- The lettering was all done in Uniball Posca paint markers (similar to Sharpie poster paint markers) and the swirls were made with a purple Sakura Gelly Roll Glaze pen.
