(if I do say so myself!)
I spent my Friday ‘artist date’ doing week 2′s homework for Tam’s ‘Fabulous Faces’ workshop. Everyone else is on week 6 or so, I’m a tad behind.
This week we were shading faces in paint – something I’ve never done before. Well, I’ve done the old white acrylic on the nose, shade round the obvious bits for illustration, but this was much more blended and painterly with lots of layering and really mixing everything to get the right tones. I’m pretty pleased with her, although I think her lips seem a bit off. I’m not quite sure how or why but they seem more angular than I would like and I suspect it’s a shading thing. Her eyes aren’t even either, but I’m OK with that. I don’t like portraits that are too perfectly proportioned, I think they look a bit alien-esque. Even supermodels aren’t that perfect.

I am behind too! I’m just doing week 2 now.
Your portrait is gorgeous! I love the shading, you’ve really given it depth with the shading (like the chin looks like it protrudes and I think the lips are great!)
